This Bird had to re-upload this little Inspired post because strange post-Halloween happenings are clearly afoot. The post showed up on Nov 2, and then it disappeared! Clearly, the ghosts of bad fashion choices have somehow come back to haunt me. Or perhaps it's just the gremlins of the internet at work.
Either way, crisis averted, I wanted to at least have the image of the Inspired look, even if I can't remember what the heck I wrote. And really, who reads this stuff -- admit it, you just want the pretty, pretty pictures, right?? I know you're nodding your head.

This Bird couldn't give a hoot about the racing of horses, but the Jaunty and wild toppers that people wear for England's Royal Ascot have caught this Magpie's eye for ages. I always think of my favorite sequence from My Fair Lady, the smash-ing, pos-i-tive-ly dash-ing spectacle of Ascot Day wardrobe heaven, with the men in their Jaunty grey suits and top hats, and the women in a blizzard of white and black-embellished elegance. Although these days, the parade of Ascot chapeaus have definitely become less formally ladylike and more Lady Gaga, with the hats bordering on Crazytown. But how can one really get too judge-y, given the fact that it's one of the rare occasions where hats are not only required, but encouraged to get as wild as possible?
And yes, I know Sarah Jessica Parker wasn't there to show off her love for Philip Treacy toppers, but I couldn't help but throw in pics of both London premieres from SATC and SATC 2 to emphasize a love for outrageous headgear. SJP is no style fool; she knows it's not something you wear to pick up your groceries, but it's a reminder that fashion needs to stay fun and get crazy now and then, to keep things from getting too mundane.

Hooray! This first day of September calls for a celebration and a Jaunty new category: j'adore -- to share any single thing that completely captures this Bird's heart. The object of affection today is a first look at, courtesy of InStyle, of our favorite girl in the city, Carrie Bradshaw, powered by the petite adorableness of Sarah Jessica Parker. Of course it seems cliché to follow the flock and still hold a torch for the jaunty defunct television series, Sex and the City, but the second movie is set to come out in 2010, and I'm not gonna lie -- this little birdie is EXCITED. The Chanel clutch is of course classically lovely, but the Louboutin golden glitter shoes -- how could our girl not walk the streets of New York without these? Those heels were made for golden girl, Carrie Bradshaw, and I can't wait to see more photos come out!
