Like, how totally Jaunty would it be to see the Fab Four ladies of Sex and the City back in the totally awesome 80s? This Bird has been following Popsugar's Tweets and jumping on all the photos that have been showing our girls, Miranda, Samantha, Carrie and Charlotte, in their shoulder-padded leg-warmered glory. This trip in the Way-Back Machine is presumably for flashbacks in the upcoming SATC 2 movie. Kim Cattrall looks a hot tranny mess but clearly rocking it in typical Samantha flair, I love the bowl-cut Cynthia Nixon looking harried in her Reeboks, and Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a throwback to her Girls Just Want to Have Fun days. Maybe Carrie and Charlotte are on their way to battle the odds and perform a winning dance number in the hopes of getting on "Dance TV." No? Well, at least we can breathe a sigh of relief by seeing the photo on the right that the stylish ladies of SATC are not trapped in a flashback and we clearly have something fun to look forward to next year.

This Bird was lucky to take flight with a new flock over the weekend, attending the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), an annual video game conference that was originally started by the minds behind the very popular Penny Arcade web comic. It is an independent event, organized by comic creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, and supported by gaming fans that grew from the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, to now sold-out crowds in downtown Seattle's convention center, with talk of creating a PAX East Coast event to help spread out the fandom. It's an amazing feat to behold, watching the Seattle Convention Center fill up with literally thousands of people, many traveling from far beyond the realm east of Lake Washington, to converge and celebrate a love of virtual worlds.

Feeling a bit like Jane Goodall, lurking amongst the the Wild Things of PAX, this Magpie wandered with camera in hand to take some photos, not sure of what the final result would be. The video game company booths were all exciting and a sight to behold in their theatrical one-upmanship to lure curious convention attendees. What was more interesting was the genuine enthusiasm behind the gamer lifestyle. People came dressed in homemade costumes -- some more successful than others, I admit -- and it seemed as though they walked a little taller, wearing their fictional armor against whatever slings and arrows of judgement came their way. Conversations flowed freely amongst crowds of strangers, but with a familiarity firmly rooted in the shared adventures that game playing provides. These weren't simply loners or geeks; they were, for the most part, benign dreamers looking for a connection. Something to bridge the imaginary world with a little bit of magic leftover from the rubble of what the rest would call reality. Maybe that's why the costumes are worn with such sincerity, and there is such a need to feel fully immersed in a fictional world of time travelers, space warriors, and mythic beasts.

The Magpie has flown the coop and taken a jaunt to the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) this weekend, in support of her game-playing/making Better Half, and the whole Runic Games team. Her gorgeous renderings make naughty catwomen purr for a saucer of milk and she's got t-shirts to inspire Wookies everywhere to run out and join the circus. Her website is full of amazing art, and the store offers nerd gear that appeals to the most discerning Trekker, looking for the latest accoutrements. Hooray! This first day of September calls for a celebration and a Jaunty new category: j'adore -- to share any single thing that completely captures this Bird's heart. The object of affection today is a first look at, courtesy of InStyle, of our favorite girl in the city, Carrie Bradshaw, powered by the petite adorableness of Sarah Jessica Parker. Of course it seems cliché to follow the flock and still hold a torch for the jaunty defunct television series, Sex and the City, but the second movie is set to come out in 2010, and I'm not gonna lie -- this little birdie is EXCITED. The Chanel clutch is of course classically lovely, but the Louboutin golden glitter shoes -- how could our girl not walk the streets of New York without these? Those heels were made for golden girl, Carrie Bradshaw, and I can't wait to see more photos come out!
